SMASHING PUMPKINS To Rock Toronto's VIRGIN FESTIVAL
March 15, 2007According to Canada.com, SMASHING PUMPKINS and BJÖRK will headline the second annual Virgin Festival in Toronto later this year.
The festival, staged by Virgin Mobile Canada, takes place Sept. 8 and 9 on Toronto Island.
Other acts scheduled to rock the event are THE KILLERS, INTERPOL, PAOLO NUTINI, AMY WINEHOUSE, TOKYO POLICE CLUB and JAMIE T. As many as 30 other acts will be announced in the weeks to come.
"We always focus on making Virgin Festival much more than just a concert," said Andrew Bridge, director of Virgin Festivals, Virgin Mobile Canada, in a release. "With heavyweight acts like THE KILLERS and indie favourites like INTERPOL, we’re going to take the momentum from last year’s success and ... create an even more unique entertainment experience."
Tickets go on sale March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets. Two-day passes are $125 plus $1.00 for the Virgin Unite charity and $12 for ferry transportation to the event.
